Young Farmer Night started two years ago to answer a need for peer networking and community building among young and beginning farmers. Since then YFN has grown into a network, based primarily in RI and SE MA (though all are welcome). YFN is a series of events on farms that occur every other week during the growing season. Each event is on a different host farm and features a farm tour, a potluck dinner, and then fun social time around a bonfire, or listening to music, or making ice cream. The idea is to not only learn about each others farms and projects, but also to become friends and have fun together! The YFN network has helped create some wonderful relationships and great projects such as equipment sharing and shared farmers market tables. Most importantly, we can learn from each other and call on our friends when we have a question, need a hand, or just want to remember that we are not farming alone! YFN is open to all- all ages, all experience levels (including people who have been farming for years and farm interns just trying it out). Please contact youngfarmernight@gmail.com to be added to the list, if you are interested in hosting a YFN event, or would like to volunteer to help organize a YFN event.
