Commonwealth Quality Program

Commonwealth Quality, a brand designed by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, serves to identify locally sourced products that are grown, harvested and processed right here in Massachusetts using practices that are safe, sustainable and don’t harm the environment.  That’s why Commonwealth Quality-certified growers, producers, harvesters and processors not only meet stringent federal, state and local regulatory requirements, but also employ best management practices and production standards that ensure consumers receive the safest, most wholesome products available.

Having the seal of Commonwealth Quality on your produce, dairy goods, seafood and lumber instantly conveys the freshness, quality and reliability of your products to consumers.  It provides an unspoken guarantee that your products are not only Massachusetts grown, harvested and tended with care, but that your practices adhere to a top-level set of criteria and environmental standards that are among the world’s best.  The Commonwealth Quality program requires growers to use a wide range of existing practices and standards that are identified in each sector’s program requirement document. Commonwealth Quality will help communicate the benefits of your locally grown products to markets and consumers.
