ABOUT THE FARM
Seven Hills Farmstead is a specialty food business located on a small farm in Rutland, MA (Worcester County). We grow vegetables on our farm to create specialty foods that are handcrafted at our new kitchen in Melrose, Massachusetts. We make traditional rustic Italian recipes. Our goal is to be a part of the local food scene - connecting local New England farms, small businesses like ours, and the communities we serve.
Acres: currently 1 acre in production (expanding to 3 in the next year) plus a greenhouse.
Management Practices: no-till, non-certified organic
Position Available: PT field crew/asst. field manager
Products: Over 40 types of vegetables to create value-added pasta sauces and vegetable dips.
Markets: Retail Store (under the farm management/ownership but located in Melrose), Farmers’ Markets and Wholesale
ABOUT THE JOB
Dates of Job – March - November
Type of Job: PT/Seasonal - 3 days a week
Types of Work: planting, seeding, weeding, picking/harvesting, pruning, pest management, site maintenance and construction, begin a composting program.
Experience Desired: 2 – 3 years prior farm experience.
Important Skills: ability to perform strenuous work in variety of weather conditions, ability to lift 65 lbs., reliable, dependable, attention to detail, ability to follow instruction. Prior farming or outdoor work experience desired but not necessary. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Given the nature and location of the job, we would prefer someone who lives in central MA.
Wage: $12 - $15/hour
