Food Link, a food rescue organization based in Arlington, is hiring a part-time Volunteer Coordinator & Operations Assistant.
Part-time Volunteer Coordinator & Operations Assistant
We are looking for a part-time staff person to join our small staff. This position will be critical to Food Link’s operational efficiencies and outreach effectiveness. This position is approximately 20 hours per week and includes some weekends and nights. Work is performed on-site in Arlington, locations where we collect & distribute food, and remotely. Working well with people of all backgrounds, friendly and fast learner is required. This position reports to Food Link’s Operations Director.
About Food Link
Food Link is an Arlington-based food rescue non profit that uses the power of volunteers to collect fresh food from food retailers and distribute it to local agencies serving residents in need. We partner with 12 local grocery and prepared food stores to bring high-quality fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, bread and prepared foods to 30 social service agencies including after school programs, programs for at-risk youth, low income housing facilities, homeless shelters, food pantries, and senior centers.
Duties
· Volunteer Management
o Onboard new volunteers
§ Manage sign up forms
§ Enter contact information into MailChimp
§ Do phone screen
§ Schedule training
§ Lead training
§ Track waivers
· Operations
o Provide telephone support at night and on weekends
o Be a back-up head volunteer on weekends
o Assist with scheduling volunteers
· Outreach
o Coordinate events
§ Create outreach materials
§ Schedule and manage volunteers at events
· Development
o Assist with fundraising activities
o Assist with grant writing
· Administration
o Perform general administration
o Other duties as needed or as arise during the course of Food Link operations
Qualifications
· Knowledge of Microsoft Suite particularly Excel and Word
· Knowledge of Google Drive and managing data there
· Adept at learning new software
· Operational background particularly in the food industry a plus
· Takes direction and works independently
· Background in administration a plus
· Good writing and communication skills required
· Regular access to a reliable vehicle
This is an at-will, non-exempt, part-time position, with an hourly rate of $15 - $20 per hour, depending on experience. Pro-rated paid time off will be provided.
