Title: New Farmer Programs Coordinator
Primary Responsibilities: Administer New Farmer Programs
Secondary Responsibilities: Facilitate MOFGA’s Farm Beginnings course
Supervisor: Educational Programs Director
Work Week:  Full-time. Nights and weekends as needed for events and meetings.
Additional Work Hours: Salaried, Federal Fair Labor Standards Act Exempt

Required Abilities and Knowledge:
• Understanding issues related to new farmers, organic farming and gardening in Maine
• Handling many projects simultaneously and prioritizing workload
• Working with Staff, Board, committee members, program participants and partnering agencies and organizations through effective verbal and written communication
• Understanding organizational structure, roles and responsibilities
• Working creatively, collaboratively and taking initiative to find solutions
• Bringing projects to conclusion under deadline
• Understanding computer systems including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, online form building, file sharing and website maintenance

Responsibilities:
• Working with Administrators, Program Directors and Staff as needed, to coordinate outreach and technical assistance to new farmers
• Evaluating and developing educational content of New Farmer Programs, events and materials
• Ensuring that MOFGA’s New Farmer Programs are congruent with its mission
• Maintaining web pages for MOFGA’s New Farmer Programs
• Managing administration of Journeyperson Program including applications, acceptance, event registration, reimbursement and promotion of participants
• Managing administration of Farm Apprenticeship Program including correspondence, applications, contracts and support to both apprentice applicants and mentor host farms
• Facilitating MOFGA Farm Beginnings course
• Maintaining accurate program records including participant contacts, tracking benefits usage, and other metrics for program evaluation and reporting
• Assisting with development of promotional content related to MOFGA’s New Farmer Programs
• Assisting with Common Ground Fair set up, clean up, and related meetings as needed
• Carrying out all of the responsibilities listed above in accordance with the mission statement, goals, and philosophy of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association
