Job Opening: Program Coordinator, Farm Business Support
Status: Full-time 40 hours/week

Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) is a non-profit organization that strengthens farms and engages the community to build the local food economy. Our programs include the Be a Local Hero, Buy Locally Grown® marketing campaign, educational activities for the public, technical assistance trainings and workshops for farmers, and programs to expand market options for farmers and increase access to local food for all communities in the Pioneer Valley.
Description
The Program Coordinator supports the Local Hero Program Manager in implementing the mission of the organization to strengthen local agriculture by building connections between farmers and the community. Responsibilities include developing and implementing technical assistance opportunities for direct-market farmers, implementing HIP (Healthy Incentives Program) retailer outreach, carrying out the day-to-day activities for these programs, and supporting development of new programs.
Essential Job Functions
Develop technical assistance trainings specifically for direct-market farmers and farmers’ market managers; work with the Program Manager to establish the number and focus of the trainings.
Coordinate outreach and other educational activities for direct-market farmers.
Train and support direct-market farmers to accept and process SNAP payments through HIP.
Supervise interns/volunteers in support of HIP goals.
Collaborate with the Program Manager and other departments to establish annual program goals; execute the program’s objectives and work plan.
Foster and strengthen CISA’s relationship with farms, institutions, retailers, and restaurants; identify prospects and recruit farms and businesses to the Local Hero program, perform member outreach.
Monitor and report on program activities; measure outcomes against expected performance goals and objectives.
Assist the Program Manager in collecting and reporting data to support grant applications and other reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems and databases; provide support for mailings, email communication, and telephone outreach.
Other Job Functions
Collaborate with CISA management to bring creative and strategic thinking to further CISA’s mission.
Represent CISA at public presentations and other venues as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Requirements
Minimum of two years of networking, sales, training, outreach or farm/food business experience and a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work with people of various backgrounds.
Collaborate with internal team and external partners, and work independently.
Highly skilled in Microsoft Office, internet research, and have experience with web-based applications (e.g. Constant Contact, WordPress).
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Maintain valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Commitment to CISA’s mission to strengthen local agriculture by building connections between farmers and the community.
Other Skills/Abilities
Previous non-profit work experience preferred.
Experience working in the sustainable agriculture field preferred.
Spanish proficiency preferred.
Reporting and Supervision
This position reports to the Local Hero Program Manager and will have some responsibility supervising volunteers and interns.
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, repetitive movements. Ability to use the following equipment: computer, copier, telephone.
Hours and Compensation
Full-time, hourly; 40-hours/week. $17.00- $19.00/hour, depending on experience. Some weekend and evening availability required. Health care and benefits provided.
