Hutchins Farm is seeking motivated individuals with an interest in farming, gardening, food, or just working outside, to work in our production fields this summer. Some help will be needed as early as April, but most hands will be needed from early June through October—individuals who can stay for three months or more will be given preference.
The work will vary, but will include: planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing a wide variety of vegetables and small fruit. Workers may also be involved in greenhouse work, grounds maintenance, sales in our Farm Stand or at Farmers’ Markets, irrigation, or other aspects of the operation based on the farm’s needs and the worker’s inclination.
Workers will be expected to work 5 or 5 ½ days per week, 9-10 hours per day. The workday starts at 7am and usually goes until 4pm. Hourly pay begins at $8/hour with a $1 per-hour-worked year-end bonus contingent on completion of contract, plus vegetables from the farm. There is potential for increases for longer term workers based on their performance and the overall performance of the farm. Applicants should be able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly. Housing is not available.
