Farmers' Market & Delivery Person
We are looking for a part time (15-25 hrs/week), seasonal (June through October) farmers’ market, CSA and delivery person. You will be heavily involved in direct sales and interactions with the public whilst providing a professional, knowledgeable and friendly manner. Duties will include loading and unloading market vehicle, driving to market or CSA sites, market/CSA stand set-up and direct sales. You will also be delivering produce to our wholesale customers on a weekly basis. There is potential for additional work in our farm stand. In addition to these main duties, you may also be involved in some harvesting, washing and packing. We feel it is important for the person representing our farm and produce to have a more complete understanding of how the farm operates and how the vegetables are grown, so they can better interact with our customers.
Qualifications:
Professional, honest, friendly manner, with great communication skills
Good at selling – ability to be outgoing and engage customers at the farmers’ market.
Attention to detail – you will be involved in creating the best possible market display and keeping it attractive throughout the duration of the market.
Punctual, reliable and hardworking.
Drivers’ License and ability to lift 50lbs.
Previous experience working on vegetable farms and at farmers’ markets is helpful
Experience with flower arranging is not necessary, but desirable
Compensation:
Hourly pay ($11/hr.), veggies, worker’s comp, and ability to earn sick days. No housing is provided.

Apponagansett Farm is a 6 acre chemical-free farm located on three different properties in South Dartmouth. We grow vegetables, flowers, herbs and some fruit following sustainable practices and nutrient dense farming principles. We rotationally graze about 400 chickens on pasture for egg production. We have a diversified marketing strategy, including a 100-member summer CSA, a 40-member winter CSA, a seasonal farm stand, summer & winter Farmers’ Markets, and wholesaling to local restaurants and grocery stores. Food access in low income areas is important to us. We are a SNAP/HIP retailer, we participate in a subsidized CSA program and a new mobile market in New Bedford. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality produce to our customers and believe in great customer service.
