DISTRIBUTION COORDINATOR AT PICADILLY FARM
Job Details and Responsibilities: The Distribution Coordinator works under the supervision of the farm owners and the Assistant Manager, and is involved in managing many aspects of produce handling and distribution. The Distribution Coordinator oversees Wash Barn and delivery activities, including supervising crew in related tasks, and interacting with customers. The Distribution Coordinator is at times involved in field work, including planting, weeding, harvesting, tractor work and general farm tasks. The Distribution Coordinator aids the Assistant Manager in overall farm management during occasional times that both farm owners are away from the farm.
Job Schedule: Work begins in March and continues through December, with minimal part-time work available (but not required) in January and February. The Full-Time work schedule varies as the season progresses, with harvest season hours Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6am-5pm, Tuesday 6am-7:30pm, Thursday 5:45am-5pm, and Saturdays 6am-1:30pm. In “shoulder” months (March, April and December), the Full-Time schedule includes fewer hours - an adjustment for seasonal work demands. The daily work schedule includes 1-2 unpaid breaks of 30 minutes to 1 hour, determined by the farm owners. Additional weekend hours may be required during occasional times that both farm owners are away from the farm. All told, the Distribution Coordinator can expect to work between 1800-2000 hours over the course of ten months.
Skills & Qualifications: The Distribution Coordinator must have 2+ years of experience working on a commercial scale farm, as well as a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Because of training demands for the position, a multi-season commitment is preferred. The job requires frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more, as well as demanding physical work in all weather and temperature conditions. A successful Distribution Coordinator will have good communication skills, pay attention to detail, and thrive at multi-tasking. Spanish language familiarity – or willingness to take steps to become conversational – is required. The skills to direct and motivate others to work quickly and efficiently are essential for the job.
Wages & Compensation: In 2019, the starting wage for the Distribution Coordinator is $15-16/hour, DOE. Shared on-farm housing may be available. Additional benefits include:
