Cape Cod based Edible Landscaping Co. Seeking Help

Edible Landscapes of Cape Cod is a small foodscaping/permaculture/general landscape company based in West Barnstable, MA. We are currently finishing our 5th year in business and we are a core of 3 worker/owners. As of last February we are "Accredited Organic Landcare Professionals" thru NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association), so we are all about organic and ecological landcare!! We are looking for a reliable person to start part-time with us this fall for our cleanups/putting peoples gardens to bed or the winter. If we like your work ethic and there is a good vibe between us all, then continuing on with us next spring is very likely. Starting pay is $15-$20/hr depending on skills/experience. Two of the core members are expecting a baby (!) , due in March, so we hope to bring somebody on this Fall who can continue with us next Spring, Summer and onward!

We wish we could offer full-time work, but we're not quite there yet. 2-3 days a week is more likely what we can offer this Fall, and more like 3-4 days next Spring... but the more we hustle, the more work we'll get, so an entrepreneurial/go-getter spirit is what we are looking for.

Our ideal candidate:
-Has experience with landscaping, gardening and/or farming
-Has reliable transportation
-Has a willingness to be a part of our team for the long term
-Can also help us with office work (emailing, invoicing, proposals, estimates, etc)
-Doesn't have issues with drug/alcohol abuse
-Is comfortable driving a truck with a trailer
-Is passionate about treating our Earth with respect
-Can be left alone on jobs without needing to be micro-managed about what to do
-Has professional work ethic, clothing, hygiene, and can talk with our clients in a professional way
-Believes that Black lives matter
-Firmly stands against nazism, white supremacy and Trumpism

Extra Bonus Points if the candidate:
-Has experience with landscape design
-Has experience with hardscapes, masonry, etc
-Has a truck/work vehicle that they're willing to use
-Is familiar with irrigation systems
-Has their own tools that they're willing to bring/use
-Is already an independent contractor with their own liability insurance policy, etc.
-Feels like Edible landscaping, permaculture and growing food is their "calling"
-Can haul full wheelbarrows of compost like a champion
-Knows their edible and native plants! Impress us with your latin names!

More Fun Facts about Edible Landscapes of Cape Cod:
-We have two small greenhouses as well as an outdoor mist-irrigated nursery area for our small scale nursery operation of rare and/or perennial and/or woody and/or native and/or edible plants
-We have three sweet girl goats. There's a potential to do goat brush clearing for customers if someone desires to make a hustle out of that
-We (the 3 core worker/owners) live communally in a big beautiful home on 2 acres with more awesome people. Tons of beautiful gardens and rare/interesting plants are established. There are currently no rooms available but we are open to the idea of someone living in/building a mobile tiny home here.
-We are active with a group we helped create, "The Food Forest Initiative of Cape Cod," who's mission is to plant public food forests all across The Cape and beyond. A few weeks ago we met with Mark Shepard (author of Restoration Agriculture) and he's going to help us go big!
-Our 10 year plan is to acquire a large piece of land to create an inter-generational farming community where we can raise our families and take care of our elders!

If you feel like you're an ideal candidate to work with us, let us know! Please send us an email and tell us about yourself. Attach a resume if you have one. The more you can tell us about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit, the better your chances are that we'll consider you!
