Assistant Farm Manager, Brookwood Comm. Farm, Canton, MA

Brookwood Community Farm is a non-profit farming operation and education

center in Canton and Milton, MA. Brookwood Community Farm (BCF) was founded
in 2006 with the goals of restoring underutilized farmland near Boston,
strengthening the local food system, and addressing the urgent need for
access to healthy food in low-income neighborhoods of Boston. From one acre
of land under cultivation in 2006, the farm has expanded to cultivate eight
acres using organic practices and operate a 300-person Community Supported
Agriculture program. 

The Assistant Farm Manager will work closely with the Farm Manager to help
assist in all aspects of vegetable production including staff training and
management, market and CSA management, greenhouse management, planting,
cultivation, irrigation management, harvest, wash and packing, and tractor
work. Managing and training staff, as directed by the Farm Manager, will be
a key part of this position.

The ideal candidate has three or more seasons of vegetable growing
experience, knowledge of tractors and equipment, management experience with
staff and volunteers, and a commitment to BCF’s mission and purpose. A
clean driving record, driver’s license, ability to safely lift and carry 50
lbs, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work
efficiently are essential.

Duration: March through November, Tuesday through Saturday, with rotating
weekend greenhouse duty. Hours are 7 am -5 pm at the peak of the season,
with fewer hours in spring and fall.

Compensation: $15-18/hr depending on experience from March through
November, 5 paid vacation days, 3 personal/sick days, and farm produce.
