Farmer / Teacher, At The Farm School Program for Visiting Schools
Do you wish you still sat at the kid's table? Have you been known to spontaneously break into song? The Farm School's Program For Visiting Schools is looking for a highly motivated, energized individual who wants to help us give an authentic farm experience to over fifteen hundred students a year. Our schedule will have you doing farm work with children in the fields, the forests, and the barns. You'll also crank the tunes for dishes, shoot hoops, and help set our tone of fun and kindness with groups of urban middle schoolers. You'll be led by and work next to dedicated farmers, foresters and educators.
This is a one-year, entry-level position: no farming experience is necessary, but previous physical and/or farm work experience would be a bonus and, in particular, previous work experience with children is a plus. Excellent launching pad for further education as a teacher or farmer. Position is full time with occasional weekend responsibilities, including monthly farm chores. Typical program weeks run 8:30 am Monday - 2 pm Friday and Farmer/Teachers are expected to work around 40 hours each week contributing to farm work, chores, classes, meal clean up and evening activities.
Dates: August 27, 2018 - Aug. 23, 2019
Compensation: 21K/year + room and board, health insurance and 7 weeks of paid vacation.
To Apply: Please send cover letter, resume and references to jobs@farmschool.org with "PVS Job" and your last name in the subject line. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position/s are filled. CORI checks are conducted as part of our hiring process.
