Poultry Processing Training Program

If you are interested in processing and selling your own chickens, turkeys, or other poultry, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health requires you to obtain a state slaughter license, which includes completing state-approved training. New Entry's hands-on poultry processing workshop is the only state-approved training in Eastern or Central Massachusetts. It is generally held once each year, in May or June, and covers a range of practical skills and best practices, from food safety to humane slaughter.

We also offer a classroom-based training in January or February each year, covering regulatory and logistical aspects of on-farm processing using a mobile poultry processing unit (MPPU) or your own on-farm facility.

An online course is in development and is expected to be available early in 2013.
