Harvest Manager

Chester, Massachusetts, at the edge of the Berkshires and the start of Pioneer Valley:

Qualifications:   Organized.  Some experience farming and managing people.  Drivers License.

We are looking for an organized person who has some experience farming and managing people and who has a driving license to manage our organic blueberry harvest for 2 months this summer:  mid-June to mid-August.  This will be a great experience for someone who wants to see what it is like to manage a harvest.  Primary responsibility is getting ripe berries off the field and to markets.  The job includes coordinating with managing owners (who do most of the marketing), scheduling pickers and sorters, managing pickers and sorters, assessing berry production, coordinating and making weekday market deliveries, having berries ready for Saturday farmers market, determining yield and then making sure we fulfill market commitments (have enough produce for farmers market and store commitments), and keeping basic harvest and financial records.

Free room and board, full run of the house, a salary, a food allowance.
