Spring Equinox Walk with Boot Boutwell

Date:
Saturday, April 8, 2017 - 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Location:
Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, MA

The days are getting longer! Officially, spring arrives with the Vernal Equinox on March 20th, but we’ll celebrate a little later (due to snowy March weather) with local naturalist Boot Boutwell. We’ll begin indoors in the 1827 Barn with a little poetry and solstice science and lore, and then head out for a walk around the farm looking for signs of spring. The walk will include some plant identification plus fun and interesting natural history. Children ages 8 and up may be registered to attend with an adult! Tuition fee: $10 per person

Roland “Boot” Boutwell is a freelance itinerant naturalist who teaches the core course in “Native New England Shrubs” and leads field trips for the New England Wild Flower Society. He is also a part time teacher/naturalist for the Massachusetts Audubon society. In addition, he teaches nature programs and leads nature walks for a number of other organizations including: the Appalachian Mountain Club, Arlington Community Education, the Winchester public schools, the Friends of the Middlesex Fells and numerous other organizations.
