Farm Maintenance Supervisor at Green Meadows Farm

Green Meadows Farm in South Hamilton, MA raises certified organic vegetables and small fruit and non-
certified laying hens, pigs, and sheep on our diversified farm on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Our
farm supplies food for a 400-member CSA, a retail farm stand, and a few wholesale accounts. We are now
accepting applications for a Farm Maintenance Supervisor for the 2017 season.

Job Description and Responsibilities
The Farm Maintenance Supervisor reports directly to the Farm Manager in order to upkeep the facilities,
landscaping and vehicles as needed on the farm. We farm on approximately 20 acres and have another 55
acres in forest. In addition, we also have a retail farm stand, 5 greenhouses, several outbuildings, a fleet of
4 tractors and 4 trucks, all of which need upkeep and care. The Farm Maintenance Supervisor will work
directly with the Farm Manager to prioritize tasks which will include, but are not limited to: light
plumbing and electrical repair, simple HVAC repair, greenhouse maintenance, building of small farm
infrastructure (like chicken coops etc), maintenance and repair of farm vehicles and small engines,
general landscaping (mowing, road maintenance, brush clearing, tree-felling etc), and occasional help in
the fields or with livestock as needed.

Qualifications
The ability to work positively with a small, core team of Managers and communicate effectively in
order to accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently.
Previous experience of at least 2 years as a handyman or in several different skilled trades is
necessary. Any and all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, welding, mechanical etc experience
is welcome. Prior tractor operation is a big plus.
Must enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather.
Capable of accomplishing tasks in a timely manner while also being independent and self-
motivated to learn what is needed.
The willingness to jump in as needed to help with the smooth running of the farm.
The ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day and a valid driver’s license and clean
driving record are essential.
 
Schedule
The schedule for this position is flexible, but begins at 7am Monday through Friday during the height of
the season. The number of hours per day can vary and some availability on the weekends, especially for
our on-farm events, is a plus. The position begins in mid-March and continues through November or
December. There are some limited hours available through the winter for farm projects such as building a
greenhouse. With the appropriate combination of skills, this is a full-time, 40-hour/week position
throughout the season.

Compensation
The Farm Maintenance Supervisor will be paid an hourly wage ranging from $12-$16/hr, based on
experience. If able to work full-time, the farm provides 60% health care coverage and a share of produce
during the season.
