Assistant Manager position open at Powisset Farm

Position Summary:

The Powisset Farm CSA was established in 2007, and has grown to include an on-site farm stand, chicken and pig livestock operations, and 375 engaged shareholders. We are seeking an Assistant CSA Manager for Powisset Farm who is committed and passionate about farming, eager to build and foster community, hard-working, creative and motivated, and excited to join and lead a team of people in the fields.

The Assistant CSA Manager will help manage multiple aspects of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) operation at Powisset Farm, a property of The Trustees. Responsibilities include: CSA distribution management; equipment, facilities, and infrastructure management; implementing day to day CSA farming tasks; serving as a liaison between the CSA and the public; working with volunteers, and with other area farmers. The Assistant CSA Manager will also be responsible for engaging the community and partners through the work of the CSA and linking that work to the importance of the conservation efforts of the larger organization. The Assistant CSA manager will work with the CSA Manager to find ways to make the CSA operation more green and sustainable. The Assistant CSA Manager reports to the CSA Manager and works with other farm staff. The position is full-time year round with a seasonally variable work schedule. On-farm housing is required, and is provided as part of the compensation package.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists CSA Manager with management of  farm stand and CSA distribution
  • Assists with management of greenhouse production
  • Assists with management of wash/pack station
  • Assists in leading farm crew and farm volunteers in farm tasks including but not limited to seeding, transplanting, harvest, post-harvest handling
  • Assists in all aspects of farm production
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation

Qualifications:

  • 2 years working on CSA production farm
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years greenhouse production experience
  • 2 year CSA distribution experience
  • Farm-stand management experience
  • 2 years farm equipment operation experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required
  • Background check required
  • Required to live onsite
  • Work nights and weekends as required
  • Have a positive attitude and desire to work on a fast paced production farm
