ReVision Urban Farm is hiring for our Youth Supervisor position. The Urban Farm Youth Supervisor supervises the youth program on the farm and works closely with farm staff in all areas related to crop production and distribution.
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
Coordinates with youth employer to provide required job and personal development training to youth crew members
Completes all administrative tasks associated with the youth program
Works alongside farm staff and youth crew members in all aspects of ReVision Urban Farm’s operations
Assists farm staff in providing on-the-job training to youth crew members
Assists in teaching farm curriculum including basic farming techniques and terminology
Participates in and is engaged in outreach efforts with the community
Qualifications:
Must be a City of Boston resident between the ages of 19-24
Demonstrated experience working with youth ages 15-18
Previous experience in agriculture preferred
Commitment to addressing food access in urban areas
Commitment to positive youth development
Strong written and verbal skills
Able to lift 50 pounds. Job is physically demanding. Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions. Passing a pre-employment physical is required.
First Aid certification required; can be attained through Victory Programs once hired.
Seasonal position: 30 hours/week for a maximum period of 10.5 weeks
Located in the Fields Corner area of Dorchester, ReVision Urban Farm has transformed more than acre of abandoned urban lots into productive and vibrant farmland that brings healthy, locally grown fresh food to its surrounding underserved community. Directly associated with ReVision Family Home, our program offers job-training opportunities for young people and homeless individuals and families while providing free freshly harvested produce to ReVision Family Home residents.
