Clark Farm Market at 201 Bedford Road, in Carlisle, MA seeks a dynamic person with an entrepreneurial spirit to partner with Clark Organic Farm in building a financially sustainable agricultural enterprise while also developing a thriving community space. As Clark Farm’s retail startup, Clark Farm Market is not only a farm market, but also a pick-your-own operation where families are encouraged to come and learn about growing food. Opportunities abound for the creative person to engage and educate all ages, both on and off the fields. Clark Farm Market is seeking candidates who share an interest in working towards a healthier, more sustainable food system. Candidates should be willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather, and manage a staff to do the same.

Responsibilities include, but are in no way limited to:

Operations
● Source sustainable and strictly local/regional items including produce, meats, dairy, and dry goods through distributors and individual vendors
● Work collaboratively with the Farm Manager to balance outside ordering with availability of our own organic produce; ensure all produce is kept fresh and looks appealing
● Set profit margins on items; price, and merchandise
● Maintain inventory management
● Create a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment
● Ensure a welcoming and distinctive customer experience
● Hire and train all staff members to support the distinctive experience, reflect the mission of the Market, develop best practices for keeping produce fresh, and a thorough understanding of the product offerings
● Schedule employees

Management
● Develop a relationship with customers, ensuring top notch customer service
● Have thorough understanding of the local food system and the products offered within the Market
● Keep Market stocked with all necessary supplies to function
● Provide financial reporting

Communication
● Meet weekly with the Farm Manager and Owners
● Organize and manage financial aspects of the business in collaboration with accountant
● Create a weekly newsletter
● Develop  social media, marketing, and advertising campaigns for the Market

Community Engagement
● Build upon the community outreach activities already in place
● Create events to draw people into the Market
● Coordinate vendor sampling

Work Schedule and Compensation
● 2018 work schedule to be mid-March through end of December (2019 schedule to be negotiated)
● Salary commensurate with experience
● 10 days paid vacation (individual days to be taken at mutually agreeable time or during off season)
● Produce & a share of farm meats & eggs
