Farm Store / Farmers’ Market Position at Freedom Food Farm

We are looking for a friendly, motivated, responsible person to help manage and staff our year-round farm store in Raynham, MA. The position will also include working some farmers’ markets in Boston / Providence.

Desired Skills, Interests and Experience

Attention to detail, flexibility, integrity, being a quick learner, taking pride in your work, and being passionate about cooking and/ or producing healthy food is very important. Vegetable / farm practice literacy is ideal, but we can also teach you! Experience in retail, cooking, working on a farm or especially at a farmers’ market / stand is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Hired individual is responsible for being the point person for the store, setting up, keeping items stocked, maintain order / cleanliness, creating artistic displays, engaging / assisting customers and CSA members, occasionally helping with other farm tasks, including: maintaining the PYO flower and herb garden, seeding, washing eggs, etc. and office tasks including: keeping retail / CSA records, communicating with farm manager, responding to general calls and e-mails, helping with promotion / communications, making signs / price cards, etc. Must be comfortable with simple technology and learning new tasks in a fast paced work environment.

Working at local farmers’ markets with another crew member and a least one day on most weekends at market or the store is part of the position.

Compensation

The ideal candidate would be able to work full time or commit to a regular weekly schedule. Pay is based on experience, skills, and motivation level, partial trade for farm products is also a possibility. As part of the farm team you also get free produce in addition to hourly pay!

Freedom Food Farm is an 88 acre, four season, diversified vegetable and livestock farm located in Raynham, MA. We produce a wide-range of products, including: over 100 varieties of vegetables, melons, strawberries, culinary and medicinal herbs, pasture-raised pork, chicken, goat and lamb, heritage eggs, flowers, plant starts, value-added products.  Our goal is to add additional products over the next few years (grains, beans, honey, milk, cheese, beef, etc.) and eventually produce a food for a full diet from our farm.
