Restoring Roots is an edible and ecological landscaping company based in Jamaica
Plain. We create beautiful and functional outdoor spaces using a combination of edible,
useful, and native plants and local, reclaimed materials. In addition to designing,
installing and maintaining gardens of all types, we work with water catchment,
irrigation, compost and other sustainability techniques. We seek out opportunities to
work with values-aligned community partners and to make our services accessible to the

Position :
The primarily responsibility of Ecological Landscapers is installing and
maintaining a variety of edible and ecological landscapes in the Boston area. Learning,
sharing information, and participating in design and project planning are core roles as
well. The position involves being an enthusiastic advocate to clients and the public about
ecological and edible landscaping techniques. This is a full-time position (average 36-40
hours per week) with fewer hours in January and February. Weekly schedules are set on
Friday of the preceding week.

● Ability to follow instructions of the project leader and ask for clarity as needed
● Work quickly and thoughtfully to accomplish tasks safely and on-time
● Willingness to learn new skills and share your skills with others
● Maintain positive respectful relationships with co-workers and clients

Desired Skills:
● Field experience in landscaping, farming, gardening, and/or construction
● Permaculture and/or ecological landscape design
● Project management skills
● Experience with sales and client relations
● Experience writing proposals and making estimates
● Valid driver’s licence and ability to drive a dump truck
● Hoisters licence or experience operating skid steers, mini-excavators
● Experience with teen or adult garden education or leading hands-on workshops

Compensation:
● $16-22/hr commensurate with experience
