Brookwood is hiring for an assistant grower for next season!

Brookwood Community Farm is a non-profit working farm located just outside of Boston in Milton and Canton, MA. Brookwood Community Farm centers around a shared passion for agriculture, fresh local food, and a commitment to increasing access to healthy food. Brookwood grows food sustainably through a mid-size CSA model, provides on and off-farm educational opportunities, and creates and supports food access projects. We actively participate in 2 farmer markets and have a robust food and seedling donation program. We are looking for an assistant grower to help us next season!

Position Duration: March 2017 – November 2017

Schedule: Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday, with hours from 7am-5pm (hours vary slightly in season).

The Assistant Grower, working closely with the Farm Managers, will assist in all aspects of vegetable production including greenhouse management, planting, cultivation, irrigation management, harvest, wash and packing, and tractor work. We are looking for someone who enjoys fast paced, efficient work, is flexible, passionate, works well alone and with a group and who is a good communicator. Tractor experience is required. Experience working at Farmers Markets a plus.  S/he must have the ability and interest to work long hours outside in any type of weather.  Two years of farming experience is required.

We strive to balance the high demands on our operations while integrating education and volunteerism, while taking time to enjoy what we do. We want candidates with an entrepreneurial. Compensation is $12-16/hr (depending on experience) from March to November, produce from the farm, and an educational stipend to explore areas of farming that interest you. No housing is available.
