Farm Description:
Medway Community Farm Inc. is a non-profit farm on town land in Medway, Massachusetts with 6 acres in vegetable production spread over three close range sites. MCF uses non-certified organic methods, to manage a diverse vegetable operation that produces food for a CSA program, an on-site farm stand, local farmers markets, wholesale accounts, and local food pantry donation. We offer a variety of education programs, community events, and volunteer opportunities for the public.

We're seeking another motivated Assistant Grower.

Position Duration:
Mid-March/April – October/November depending on availability. The weekly grind, 7am – 4pm (schedule will vary slightly seasonally) with a 10:00am paid union coffee break, a 1 hour unpaid lunch.

Responsibilities:
The assistant grower will work closely with the Farm Manager and Assistant Farm Manager, assisting in all aspects of vegetable production including greenhouse management, planting, cultivation, irrigation management, harvest, washing, packing and direct sales. We are looking for someone who enjoy fast paced, efficient work and are eager to learn how to be even faster and even more efficient.  The right candidate should be easy going, passionate, work well alone and with a group, and good communicators. Applicants should also be excited about working with community members of all backgrounds and ages to promote the farm’s mission. We strive to balance the high demands on our operations while integrating education, volunteerism and activism, and taking time to enjoy what we do.

Our assistant growers have the opportunity to take on more responsibilities as well, helping to guide the overall workings of the farm. A variety of roles exist to plug into including greenhouse growing, wholesale selling, farmers markets, etc. Besides the qualities listed above, ideally, grower candidates will have worked on a farm for a season or two already and having any previous experience as a teacher, outdoor educator, community organizer or other relevant positions is a plus, but not necessary.

Compensation is commensurate with experience, and includes produce from the farm, participation in EMass CRAFT, hands on training sessions, discounts in the farmstand, and eggs from our chickens. Currently there is no housing available, but we are willing to work with the right candidates to find housing solutions in our community.
