Matunuck Oyster Bar's Vegetable Farm is a 9-acre certified organic farm that

grows a wide variety of vegetables primarily for the Matunuck Oyster Bar.  The
farm focuses on extended season production with a large emphasis on salad

Assistant Growers will focus on a wide variety of farm tasks including
greenhouse work, planting, cultivating, harvesting, weeding, washing and
packing. The typical week will be 30-40 hours Monday-Friday with rotating
Saturday greenhouse watering responsibilities.  Assistant Growers will work
under the supervision of the farm manager, and are expected to work both as a
team and independently in an effective manor.

Qualifications:

We seek individuals that have a strong work ethic and are interested in
working on a fast-paced production farm. Previous vegetable farming experience
is a plus. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working hard and fast.
All applicants must be able to perform physically demanding and repetitive
tasks without losing motivation, work in all kinds of weather, and be able
lift 50 lbs.  Speed and attention to detail are important qualities for these
positions.

The Matunuck Vegetable Farm primarily provides produce for the Matunuck Oyster
Bar and strives to produce the highest quality produce.  We provide both the
majority of large vegetables to the restaurant as well as focusing on smaller
crops such as salad mixes, micro greens, herbs, garnishes, and flowers.  The
majority of the work on the farm is hand work, harvesting, washing and packing
produce for the restaurant.

The Assistant Grower position starts in April and will run until late November
with the opportunity for part time winter employment for some positions.
Summer employment is also available from May-August/September for college
students. The positions will receive vegetables from the farm and a starting
hourly wage of $11/hr.
