Welding Workshop for Farmers

The purpose of this workshop is to learn about the different types of welding and get a chance to try each of them. We will also discuss what kinds of equipment would be appropriate for the farm. Time will be given to techniques you can use for metal fabrication and repair as they relate to farm equipment. A considerable part of the workshop will be spent actually practicing different welding techniques. You will leave with an ability to do simple welding and make simple repairs and an understanding of what is required to pursue the skill further.

We will study and do oxy-acetylene cutting, brazing and welding, wire feed welding (FCAW), MIG welding (GMAW) and stick welding (SMAW). TIG welding will be described but not taught.

“Will I be able to weld after the workshop?” Yes.
“Will I be a good welder after the workshop?” Nope, sorry. Good welding is a skill that takes practice. To become a certified, professional welder requires much additional study and practice. The intention in this workshop is to get a basic start at it.

The workshop consists of 4 sessions of 4 hours each held at my work space in Northborough, MA. Due to space and equipment limitations, each workshop is limited to 2 participants. The cost is $200 plus a $25 material and supplies fee.
Saturdays, November 14, 21, 28, Dec 5     10am 'til 2:30pm (1/2 hour lunch) each day
Sundays,   November 15, 22, 29, Dec 6     10am 'til 2:30pm (1/2 hour lunch) each day

If some modification of the dates or times - like Mondays instead of Saturdays or pushing dates into December or earlier/later in the day or whatever - would work for you, let him know and he will try to accommodate.  Since there are only 2 people per workshop, If you want to do it with a friend, that would fill one workshop and you could schedule it pretty much however works for you.
